Saltfish and Akee
You can make this one of a kind dish by using salt cod, scotch bonnet peppers, tomatoes, sautéed onion and the akee fruit. The hypoglycin alkaloid toxins in the fruit can be very deadly. So, make sure not pick the fruit until it is fully ripe. If you’re not careful, it may cause vomiting seizures. In worst cases, it may even cause people to go to coma and die. Canned akees are safer and won’t lead to the Jamaican Vomiting Sickness.
