If you are fond of eating crunchy snacks, then, Dr. Apovian suggests you eat garbanzo nuts instead of salted peanuts, pretzels or chips. Most of these snacks are sodium-filled and that is not very healthy at all. But then again, the craving for crunchy food is real and taking its toll on almost all of us. So, make your garbanzo nuts at home – it is protein-packed, as well.
To make your own garbanzo nuts:
Heat the oven ahead of time at 425F while you remove the water in two cans of garbanzos. Put a baking sheet and spritz non-stick spray before laying the beans on the baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes and then take it out and let it cool. Drizzle it with olive oil and sprinkle some chili powder then, bake for another 10 minutes. Top it with sea salt.
