The Healthiest Fastfood Cheeseburger

Don’t mistake cheeseburger as being healthy. No, that’s not what I meant. Cheeseburger is NOT a health food. This is a fact. But, there are certain companies who create their cheeseburgers in a less “junk” sense, if you get the drift.

Some cheeseburgers are just pure garbage with all the extenders, additives and preservatives in the supposedly beef patty. And don’t get me started on the bun. It is just high in calories without any nutritional value at all.

But there is what we call “healthiest fastfood cheeseburgers”. If you are craving for burgers, just choose from any of these eight healthiest fastfood cheeseburger ala carte. Just the burger, ok? And no fries!

This list was given by a certified dietitian, Ruth Frechman, and she based it on the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Miss Frechman chose cheeseburgers with the least saturated fats, added sugars and sodium. She also considered the calorie content of each burger.

8. Sonic Cheeseburger

“We don’t make it ‘til you order it.” That’s the motto of Sonic on all the foods they serve. Is it a good thing, yes, it is. That’s because you can be assured of the foods freshness.

Now, Frechman listed this as the 8th healthiest cheeseburger because it has 17 grams saturated fat with a total fat of 43 grams. The protein content in a Sonic Cheeseburger is 35 grams and the cholesterol content is 120 mg.

7. Jack in the Box Big Cheeseburger

Jack in the Box

The term “big cheeseburger” really means it is “big” in everything. The Jack in the Box Big Cheeseburger contains 557 calories. Compared to other “big” cheeseburgers, this is the lowest calorie count ever. It may have 2 grams of fat; at least, it only contains 80 mg of cholesterol. This is a bit better compared to other cheeseburgers.

6. Wendy’s Dave’s Hot ‘N Juicy ¼ lb Single

There are so many burgers in Wendy’s and not all of those in the menu are considered “healthy to eat”. Now, if you are into hot foods and you would like to be satisfied by a Wendy’s burger, then, the Wendy’s Dave’s Hot ‘N Juicy ¼ lb Single is the only choice.

It does have a high amount of sodium in the mix at 1,180 mg. The cholesterol content is at 100 mg too. But it is still a recommended cheeseburger by Miss Frechman since it has other nutrients to boot which makes it a bit better than Jack in the Box and Sonic.

5. Five Guys Little Cheeseburger

Five Guys

If it is little, does it mean the cheeseburger is “bite-size”? No, of course not. It is a regular cheeseburger with a lower calorie count. The Five Guys Little Cheeseburger only has 290 calories and its cholesterol content is only 85 mg. Do we like that? Yes, we should. Add a green and leafy salad to this CB; you are on your semi-healthy lunch or dinner meal.

Frechman said that the Five Guys Little Cheeseburger is the 5th “healthy” cheeseburger because its sodium value is 690 mg only.

4. Carl’s Jr. Big Burger with Cheese

And then again, there is that term – BIG BURGER! Yahoo! It means the meal is huge and yet the not-so-healthy things about it are at a minimum. I love this!

Carl’s Jr. Big Burger with Cheese is really huge and yet, the saturated fat it contains is at a low value of 11 grams. It may be a bit higher on the carbs at 57 grams (wow!) and sodium at 1,150 mg. But Miss Frechman says that overall, Carl’s Jr. Big Burger with Cheese is one of those “healthy” CB’s.

3. In-N-Out Cheeseburger

In N Out

The top three spot is snagged by In-N-Out Cheeseburger. Its saturated fat is very low at 10 grams while its cholesterol content is only at 60 mg. And the fact remains that In-N-Out Cheeseburger is so tasty good – this really does deserve to be in the top three.

2. McDonald’s Cheeseburger

I was really hoping when this cheeseburger would show up! Good to know that McDonald’s very own cheeseburger is considered a “healthy” burger and it is the second on this list. As for its trans-fat, the McDonald’s Cheeseburger only contains .5 grams. The sodium content is low as well at 680 mg. The best about all of it is that the cholesterol content is minimal at 40 mg. Sweet!

1. Burger King Cheeseburger

Burger King

BK all the way! Yes! Well, if there is a term “healthy cheeseburger”, then, this is it! Burger King is it. The flame grilled patty is simply the best. It is not fried, it is grilled! And that means lesser oil, lesser fat and lesser calories!

A BK Cheeseburger only contains 12 grams total fat, 27 grams of carbs, 560 mg of sodium and 40 mg of cholesterol. Just ditch the mayo, and you’re on the right track.
